Mission: Reconciliation & Reconstruction [Fleet Plot]
Location: Federation Council, Earth

=/\= Federation Council Chambers, Earth =/\=

The large doors of the chambers were opened by an aide, rushing ahead of the Admiral as he strode forwards, he'd been summoned to a meeting with the Federation council, with Kerry leaving, it could only mean one thing and a small lump had formed in Xander's throat as he passed through the doors, his eyes sweeping the entirety of the council, the delegates sat behind and around the main members of the council, a Vulcan sat at their head, one who he recognised as Sa'vak.

“Admiral Hark, thank you for attending at such short notice,” the Vulcan stated, his hands placed firmly on the arms of the chair he occupied, it's polished wood gleamed in the shine of the morning light that was allowed through the arched windows of the chamber.

“I live to serve.” Xander replied with a respectful bow of his head towards the Vulcan, “I expect I know what this meeting is about.”

“Your assumption is likely correct, Admiral,” Sa'vak replied, returning the bow of the head, “You are here because Fleet Admiral Malone has decided not to extend his tenure as Commander in Chief of Starfleet, this leaves us with a position to fill and on his recommendation, this council would like to bring you in to fill the position,”

“Given your extensive service to both the Federation and Starfleet, we are offering you this position as the best candidate, you hold the respect of a great number of people, your actions during the Klingon Civil War also earnt their respect, something that the Federation dearly needs at this time.”

“I see,” Xander replied as his head tilted to the side slightly in thought, “I believe that it is in the best interests of the Federation for a familiar and trusted face to be the head of Starfleet, I would however like to reiterate a point that I trust Fleet Admiral Malone made in his meeting with this council, too much civilian oversight in the processes of Starfleet nearly destroyed the Federation and allowed a rogue group to seize control for a time, please keep this in mind when deciding how to proceed.”

“We will keep your comments under advisement Admiral,” the Vulcan replied with a respectful bow of the head, “We will not keep you from your duties, We understand that your new desk is rather... full at the moment.”

“Thank you and I am sure it is sir,” Hark replied with a slight smile, “Mister President, honoured delegates, I will take my leave,” he added as he stepped down from the position before the council and was ushered out by the aide, after stepping out of the room, he was officially the Commander in Chief of Starfleet, an unenviable task given the recent events.
