Commander Rozen Coo had awoken early that morning, nervous for what he was about to do. He dressed in his finest Duty Uniform, packed his PaDDs into his leather messenger bag and walked from his new apartment in San Fransisco to Starfleet Command Complex. He made his away across campus into the new home of Starfleet Science.

The building, that had been ruble a few months ago, was now a hustle and bustle of personnel looking to get it back to full operation: gold clad engineers, and blue clad scientists working to get the building up and running. The building was a 23 story grey building, with a courtyard in the center and a sleek greenhouse complex off the rear of the building. The lower 19 levels were made up of various laboratories ranging from electronics, botanical, biological, astro labs, ect. The top levels were offices for operations of SF Science, as well as Main Science Operations, housed on level 23 of the building.

Having poured over a pile of PaDDs since being assigned as Director of Starfleet Science Rozen knew that the building was close to completion, there was even research being moved back into the building from before the fall. Rozen entered and looked up in aw at the 23 story atrium that went up the building. A main reception desk sat in the middle of the room, and clear transparent aluminum turbolifts on the wall opposite the entrance. As Rozen walked past the information desk he saw wires sticking out of the desk, where the terminals were to be installed.

He stepped into a turbolift and called out as the doors closed, "Level 23, Main Science Operations." Within a few seconds the doors opened and Rozen stood, looking across 'the pit' as the staff would call it. The Pit had terminals and displays, most of which were lit up at this point, there were still a few that needed to be installed or diagnoses ran. For the most part the officers here were clad in blue, and hard at work compiling reports, or making contact with Chief Science Officers throughout the galaxy. The wall opposite the entrance to Main Science Operations (MSO) had a door, which lead to the Directors office. One wall was a map of various sectors and quadrants and ship locations, all of which having first been cleared to disclose by Starfleet Intel and Operations.

He looked at his wrist crono '0745'. He had requested a presence with any available staff in The Pit at 0800. Having a few moments extra he figured he would pop into his office for a bit to drop off his bag. Entering his office he could see that it had already been finished by the Corp of Engineers. His office was simple, 2 walls looked out over the San Fransisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The third wall was a wall terminal with various displays already pulled up. Rozen walked to his desk and sat down, putting his bag on his desk. He had made it, he was now the Director of Stafleet Science. It was easy to say, but now the fun really began.

Filling away his PaDDs he stood up and entered back into MSO. He stood a moment, right in front of his desk door and just watched the staff go about their business. Looking at his wrist crono one more time he watched it click from 0759 to 0800.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, your attention please," said Rozen aloud to the personnel at their stations. "My name is Commander Rozen Coo, if you did not know I am the new Director of Starfleet Science. As you know this building was apart of the destruction that occurred many months ago. Now, we have rebuilt, reconstructed, rejuvenated what Science means in the Fleet.

Rozen crossed his arms behind his back and started to pace slightly in front of his office door. "We have a grand journey in front of us. We have networks to reestablish, research to continue, discoveries to be made, exploration to be done. Since the dawn of time we have sent our best and brightest out into the unknown to see what was there. Scientist have always been there to explain what is there.

"Per the Starfleet Creed we are to seek out new worlds and civilization, and that's what we aim to do every single day. Every day you stand at your post, every day you compile your reports you are making a difference. Change starts one person at a time and let that change start here and now.

"Times have been difficult in the past, people have suffered and even died in these pursuits. I understand that transitions can be difficult, but I hope my posting here will help smooth this process along. I want to thank every single one of you for doing your job. For putting in the hours to get the job done. We have a lot to do folks, lets get to work."

There was some light applause at Rozen's speech. He wasn't looking for it, but it was nice to hear enthusiasm. There wasn't a lot to be excited about, it really was about the little things. "Resume your duties," said Rozen turning towards his office.

He entered the office and moved behind the desk to look out over San Fransisco. His work was only just starting, but it felt good to be back.
