Mission: Non-Plot Log

Crutches... that's what she was now using as she made her way into the house. Hopefully Patrick would be working late or something tonight she'd decided when the doctor told her what was wrong with her foot. If it wasn't one thing it was another...

Letting the dogs out, she made her way to the kitchen to grab an ice pack before moving to settle down in the recliner with a sigh and a mutter.

Unfortunately for Kassi, her bad luck appeared to come in concentrated form. Harper's brigade was one of the few that had not been deployed for the Krigoria operation, so he was still Xonnel side, and as such - was able to return home after a day of more administrative duty. His unit was on stand-down rotation, so it was mostly close-order drills and tactical theory training.

As he came home, he spotted that the dogs were bounding around the yard, and smiled knowing that Kassi would be home. The dogs had taken to going into the office with her as of late, probably some separation issues. As he came into the sitting room, he had a grin on his face at the sight of his beloved... which disappeared quickly when he spotted the crutches and the ice-pack. "What happened to you?" He asked, with concern.

A sheepish smile touched her face as she saw Patrick. "The doctor said I sprained my foot. Don't ask me how... "

"Err... I really would like to know how you managed that doing a desk job. Frankly, your job couldn't be any safer unless they locked you in a padded room." Harper looked at his wife carefully.

"I was walking back from my lunch with Nathan... and tripped." Yes, as strange as that sounded, it was the only time she could think of that she could have hurt herself.

Patrick glared at her. "Do I have to have you wrapped in bubble-wrap?"

"You know, the doctor said something close to that." Kassi said with a slightly shy smile seeing the look Patrick was giving her. "On a good note, everything else is alright... baby is good." She added in hopes that would get him to relax a little.

Patrick let out a sigh of exasperation at his wife. "I swear, I'm going to lock you up in this house." He said, as he sat down next to her on the sofa, and put his arms around her, so that one rested on her tummy. "I really hope our child doesn't inherit its mothers clutzness."

Chuckling as she snuggled up next to him she kissed him softly. "Lets hope, in the meantime I'm supposed to try and stay off it. Not a hard job considering what I do." After all, one didn't figure she could get hurt much sitting at a desk. "How was your day? And what do you want to eat... I'm hungry." Although she couldn't help but to wonder where everything that she'd eaten for lunch went too.

"Well, my brigade is in reserve, so at the moment its close order drills and tactical planning. Although that could change at any moment, given that half the MEF has been deployed for Operation Truncheon." Patrick explained. "So don't be too surprised if I vanish one day, chances are the orders will be cut somewhat suddenly." He said, by way of making sure his wife truly understood the implied risks of being the bride of a combat marine.

Laying her head on his shoulder with a soft sigh, Kassi was quiet a moment as she took in his news. She knew well enough that life could be rough for the two of them at times. One never knew when the other one might be pulled away to go deal with things. "Well, lets just hope if you do get sent away, you aren't gone long." She said finally, a hand rested upon his over her belly.

"Depends if this engagement with the Krigorians drags out. Richard might have to send in reinforcements. That'll be us." Patrick said, calmly. "He's already sent Adam's unit out there." Referring to Adam Towers' 5th MEU.

"Hopefully you will be able to at least let me know before you go. Though I understand if you can't." Her gaze lifted upwards to catch his as she spoke.

"Operational security." Patrick replied. "Chances are, no one's going to be allowed to tell anyone they're deploying. We'll be shoved onto a transport and be on our way before we know it. Although you're the Sector Commander, so surely you'd be informed of what the marines are up to more than me - a mere Colonel - would be."

"Yes well, I try not to step on Sharpe's toes by nosing to much into his stuff." She said with a little shrug as she kissed him softly. "For now, I suppose I should make the most of having you around."

"Yes, you probably should." He smiled at his pregnant wife, and kissed the crook of her neck. "And I should take full advantage of the fact that you're home."

"Yes... yes you should." She murmured softly as she curled up to him a little more, for the moment she decided dinner could wait a little longer.
