Kassi had to admit that in a lot of ways she was enjoying this time off. Perhaps she really did need to take more time off once in a while... to remember what they fought for. Of course, between Mel, the kids, and the rest of the family... she really didn't have time to stop and dwell to much on things.

Time was coming to an end for her, and she still had another stop to make before she had to get back. Although she still wasn't sure she was totally ready for that, she missed Patrick and knew that he was the biggest reason to go back. Everything else would fall into place in time.

She ran the brush along the dark buckskin horse that she'd been riding while she was here. She'd already said goodbye to the rest, now it was time for her and Mel to take one last ride together before she headed off. Thankfully her best friend hadn't pushed to much to find out more of what she was holding in, though she knew Amelia was still worried about her. Perhaps she should open up a little more? And she still hadn't told her the good news... The whinny of the horse brought her focus back to what she was doing as she called over. "Finally... " She said with a smile.

Hugging Derrick, she went out to ride with Kassi one last time before she left. Heading out to the stable, she pushed open the door and stepped in. Her horse announced her arrival with a whinny. She walked over to Starburst hearing Kassi speak.
"Well I thought if I took a long time you would have to stay longer."

Leading Starburst out of her stall, she slipped on the reins and saddled her up. Making sure the blanket under the saddle was nice and smooth as not to cause her horse discomfort.

"You sure you have to leave? The Holidays are right around the corner you know, and we would love to have you here with us."

"Yeah, I need to stop by and check in on the folks. Let them know I'm still living. And then I'm heading back to Richards place for a few days before we take off." Kassi said as she led her horse over to the steps to work her way up and into the saddle. As usual, that bit of frustration hit her as she couldn't just hop up anymore. "I'll try and keep in better touch from now on though. And with things settling down, you shouldn't have to worry quiet so much."

"No Matter what I will always worry about you Kassi. Here, there, where ever you are." Pulling herself up into the saddle. She lead Starburst out of the barn towards the trails. "Have you talked to Patrick at all?"

"Yeah, Sharpe invited Patrick for lunch one day." She said softly as a hand stroked down the neck of the creature she was riding. An odd smile touched her features as she peeked over to Mel, having been keeping a big secret from her.

"Alright spill it woman or I am going to smack your horse on the butt and make him run." She was teasing of course, but it still sounded good. "What have you been holding back?"

Maybe being on horseback wasn't the best time to tell her best friend the news she's been holding back. Guiding her horse just a little farther from Mel's she gripped the reigns tighter and get ready to ride and hold on tight. "I'm getting married in a few days." She called before she gave her horse a nudge.

Amelia stopped Starburst and stared at Kassi. "You are what??? And you are just telling me now?" Nudging Starburst to catch up. "Why did you wait to tell me? Don't you want a dress or all the trimmings? Is it Patrick? Of course it is Patrick who else would it be? Can I be there?"

"Cause I'm scared and needed time to process the fact that after what I did to him, after everything that has gone on. He still wants me. And needed time to think about what Starfleet did to me." She glanced over to Mel a moment and nodded. "of course you can be, it's just going to be a small one though. But.. I suppose a dress would be good to have. I haven't told me folks yet, that's part of why I figured I better go see them."

"Uhh.. you think you have enough time? Are they going to want you to get married nakied? Ooo that would be an interesting wedding! We can go shopping as soon as we get back, and well after a shower. Unless you want to pick out something with your mother." Mel smiled at Kassi. "I am really happy for you. Maybe now I won't worry as much." She looked at Kassi before laughing "NAAAAAA!"

"We can go shopping after we get back from riding. I'll stay another night, though I need to go see my family tomorrow evening. And my mother likely won't be so happy, she's been steady trying to get me to resign and come home." She turned Magick around and made her way closer to Mel once more. "So not mad at me for not telling you sooner?"

'No I am not mad at you. Sometimes we have to work things out for ourselves before sharing that with others. Remember the whole thing with Derrick and that woman on the station? I really wish that Counselor could see us now. The only violence is when he is playing Rugby with my brothers." Mel could not help but laugh. "My brothers are idiots.."

"Hey... Ian isn't so bad" Kassi said with a slight blush, she'd always defend her first. "I still have much to work out..." She said as she glanced over to her best friend. "I don't know if I can.... you know... I want to with him, but..." She blushed a little as she pulled her gaze to look around the area again. She knew Patrick would work with her, would help her... but that didn't mean she wasn't worried.

"Just take it one day at a time. If this Marine, loves you enough to marry you he loves you enough to help you work on the issues that would keep you apart. You just have to take your time and not push him away." Mel smiled "I so can not wait to be an Aunti." The barn came into sight as they rode back towards the house. "I will wait to tell Mom and Dad until you tell your parents."

If she'd been drinking anything she would have choked. "Well don't hold you breath for that one Mel!" She said as she laughed. She had to give her friend credit though, he had at least broken the train of thought that she had been on. "And yeah, I know he'll work with me... I'm just... I want everything to be right... special." She said with a slight sigh. "Alright, shower, shopping and then I'll go home tomorrow and see the folks." She peeked over to Mel. "Then pick you up in a couple days on my trip back?"

Mel nodded. "that sounds like a plan. You do know..if your parents insist on you being naked.. I am wearing a prom dress." Laughing as they dismounted. Taking care of the horses, they fed them and put them in their stalls before heading back to the house to shower. "I think we need to get some food also."

"I won't be naked.. that's a Batazoid thing.. not a Bajoran one. But for the most part this will be human" She finally managed to get out after she'd finished laughing as she pondered everyone naked and her best friend in a bright pink puffy prom dress. "I agree... lets get going." Kassi said finally.
