Mission: Non-Plot Log

Back in uniform, Kassi sighed as she looked around the Chloe a moment more. Patrick had already located Richard and transferred over, though she'd wanted to take a few before getting herself back on track of things. It was back to work and time to check in, she'd decided to see Sharpe first, after all it was time to surprise him.

Thanks to her husband she now knew were the General was, and making her way to the transporter room, she had herself beamed over to the Marine ship.

Life was as bearable as it could possibly be aboard a packed ship, full of marines. Even a General had to be accommodating to the extringencies of the service. Whilst his quarters were far from closet sized, they were not the largest in the known universe. All quarters were reduced to allow for maximum occupancy of the old Malone class carriers, that had been retrofitted to be marine bulk transport ships.

Sharpe had endured worse in his time, but he did feel a sense of irritation that he was aboard the Carolina, and not the Ticonderoga, like he thought he would be. There would be plenty of space on the Tico, but with the delay in the marine departure - the Tico had left without him, as he'd needed to oversee the details of the delay to his MEF being embarked. It had been a clerical error by someone at Starfleet Command - wasn't it always - and the marines had suffered as a consequence.

Materializing aboard the Carolina, she offered a smile to the officer there and requested to be led to the General, after all he likely figured she was heading off to catch up with Malone. Following the other officer as they made their way to Richard, Kassi worked to keep a serious look upon her face.

He wasn't bothering to unpack, even though he'd be in here for a couple of weeks. It just wasn't worth the hassle, so he made himself comfortable in the room, leaving his possessions in the shipping crates that were stacked in the main room of his quarters. There were three large rectangular boxes, with one atop of two, plus other smaller boxes and a travel duffle. He'd piled them against the bulkhead near the door, and on one of the two small couches in his room.

After giving the officer with her a short word that she was fine, the Marine hurried off leaving her outside of Richards door. A brush of a hand would bring the chime to sound in his room as she waited for him to respond.

"Come!" Richard bellowed, as he lay on his bed, looking up at the remarkably grey looking ceiling. Why were all Federation starships so amazingly drab? You'd think with over two-hundred member worlds, one of them could provide a decent interior decorator.

Stepping in, she gave a glance around a moment before speaking. "Technically, bellowing at an Admiral isn't a wise thing. At least that's what I've heard." Fingers tapped on one of the boxes that were stacked up.

"Its only an issue if the Admiral outranks you." Richard smirked from his bed. "Or if you happen to give a crap about your career. In either situation, neither applies to me."

Kassi chuckled softly. "So just going to lay around in bed and mope? Or going to get up and offer me a drink and talk, like a good host?"

"I'm not moping." Richard retorted. "I'm relaxing in my luxurious quarters." He replied, with sarcasm. He got up off the bed, walked over to the replicator, and produced a glass of water and a glass of cold coke for himself. He handed Kassi the water. "So, what brings you to the infernal depths of the marine transport ship Carolina?"

Taking the glass, Kassi shrugged a little. "Figured I would come over to see what kind of quarters an Admiral would get on this ship. Or if I want to camp out on the Chloe till we make it down to Xonnel." She said before lifting the glass up for a drink, and to hide the smile as she waited for the next question that she figured would come from Richard.

"I might take the Chloe back from you, and you can have this rat-hole." Richard scowled at Kassi.

A soft chuckle slipped from her. "Or we can just share Chloe.... till we get down to Xonnel." Kassi said with a little shrug. "It's a nice ship by the way, thank you for letting us borrow her."

"I think your husband might object if two former lovers were to shack up in a runabout together." Richard teased her. "And yes, she's a good ship, one of the finest from Utopia. But again, you're not here to compliment me on my personal craft, why're you really here, Kassandra?"

"What... I figured he would be sharing my quarters on it... so he wouldn't have to worry." Kassi replied with a light blush to her cheeks. "Ohh... I just wanted to tell you... you are stuck with me..."

"I know I'm stuck with you. I can't seem to get rid of you." Richard commented. "At least I'll get some peace when you're out gallivanting off with Malone."

"That's where you are wrong.... I'm not going with Malone. I'm staying down on Xonnel. There is work down there that needs my attention more then Malone does." Kassi said with a sly smile.

"Oh good grief." Richard sighed. "Well, I suppose Patrick is happy about that at least. Chances are, you and he will be so busy with one another, that I'll get some actual peace."

"Oh I wouldn't be so sure about that. After all, you are his best friend... and a good friend of mine. Heck, you even came up while we were on our honeymoon." Of course it wasn't till after she said that that she realized just how bad that might have sounded. "And yes.... he's happy about it."

"Happy that I came up during your honeymoon?" Richard smirked. "Please tell me you didn't scream my name during an orgasm..." He teased her relentlessly, because he could.

A deep blush caught her. "Noo.... nothing like that geezzz. He's happy that I am staying down there with you all. And I'm sure in some strange way, you are too." A drink was taken as she watched him. "Now Colonel Towers... he might not be."

"Chances are, you won't have much interaction with Colonel Towers." Sharpe replied. "It won't be like it was on Zetari, where the good Colonel was attached to your command, so you had a basis of interaction. Here - he works for me, reports to me, and operations are run through me. It would be like the chances of running into an Ensign from Security on a starbase would be on a random chance."

"Perhaps, but when it comes to him I do seem to find those random encounters not so random." She said with a little smirk. "And don't worry, I know he's not mine... I have enough dealing with you and your arrogance, I don't need him on top of it. He can be your pain in the backside."

"Gee, how considerate of you." Richard sighed.

Kassi chuckled softly. "So... back to the real reason I'm here. Where to sleep..."

"In your husbands bed." Richard replied, teasing her again.

There went that slight blush again. "Yes.. well.. I was meaning more on this ship.. or on the Chloe? By the looks of these quarters I'm thinking more the Chloe."

"Well, your dogs are on board." Sharpe replied. "I had one of my aides take them down to the combat holodeck, activate a park program, so they can run around."

"Good, thank you for dog sitting. And as you haven't answered I suppose I'll grab them and my husband and head back over to the Chloe." Kassi said as she watched him with a slightly teasing look. "You can join, I think I'll make dinner."

"I think I'm going to see enough of you on Xonnel, that I'll use this time on the Carolina to have a vacation from you." Richard smirked.

"So I take it that's a no on dinner. Gotcha. Then I suppose I'll head back over. I'm sure you have things to do, or your best friend to talk to." She said with a little blush. "How soon before we go though the wormhole?"

"Couple of weeks." Sharpe replied. "And I guess I'll come over for dinner, if you really insist."

"I do, you can come over when Patrick does. I'll make sure everything is ready." She gave a glance around a moment. "You know, you should unpack a little." Kassi said as she headed over to put away her empty glass of water.

"What's the point, I'll only have to repack it all again." Richard replied. "Besides, this is only temporary."

"True... alright, I have things I need to do. I'll see you later Richard." Kassi said with a smile to him before heading to the door and slipping out.

"Damn..." Richard muttered under his breath and shook his head. There were days when he was jealous of Patrick, but it was only a fleeting feeling of lust. He couldn't love Kassi, not the way he loved Dare, but sometimes one's base desires really were a pain in the ass. Now he was committed to having dinner with a pair of newly-weds, quite possibly the worst fate to befall a man since a Breen prison.
