Mission: Insurrection [Fleet Plot]
=/\= Approaching Starbase 204-B, Pendragon =/\=
"Go dark," Vokar called out as he strode onto the bridge from the turbolift, the running lights of the Pendragon cut out, the bridge darkened and the nacelles even dimmed, the Excalibur class ship stalked towards their target in silence, the Vulcan retook his seat, a patch over his damaged eye, the edges of the scar just visible above and below the patch.
The starbase was running like normal, well... as normal as it could be with half of the crew Starfleet officers and the other half UFP officers. But, from the outside nothing really seemed to be to terribly different, with the exception of the ships that lingered closer to the wormhole as if to block it. Sa'Tak had made sure to set that up shortly after he'd arrived upon the station. One couldn't be to trusting during this time.
"Two minutes until we're in sensor range Captain," the Tactical officer called out behind Vokar, his fingers flexing slightly as he anticipated the battle to come.
"What defenses do they have between us and the wormhole?" the Vulcan asked as he examined the tactical readout on the station itself.
The USS Burgess a Insignia light cruiser along with 3 other Saber class destroyers were what was guarding the wormhole. Captain Larom Zet sat in the command chair looking at his armrest of incoming reports. "Captain.....I'm picking up a very low energy signature but it's covering a rather large space of space." The tactical officer said.
"On screen." Larom said looking away from the armrest. But all he could see where some dim streaks. "Run another scan and see if any spacial anomalies are in this area."
The tactical officer did as he ordered as Larom sent out orders to the 3 Saber class ships. Getting them into a defensive position something didn't seem right, "there should be none sir." Larom just studied the screen trying to figure out what they were dealing with.
"They're scanning our area of space," the tactical officer called out as he ships began to move, "Your orders Captain?"
"Rain hell on them, cores to full power, shields up, weapons free." Vokar called out as he strapped himself into the command chair, the Pendragon beginning to ripple with raw power as all four cores of the Quantite Fusion Core burst into life, flooding the EPS grid with enough power to punch a hole in the universe itself, the colossal ship was still only lit by the single running light on the outside, but the nacelles now burnt a bright blue.
Larom jumped, "defensive position alpha romenro 2." He shouted as the order was sent to the 3 Sabers as they adjusted their position to try and carrel the large mighty ship.
"Tactical to Captain, we have a firefight going on by the warm hole." Sa'Tak rushed from his office out into main ops. Looking at the screen, he ignored the loud sounds that alerted the Station once more that they were in red alert. Something that it seemed the Station was hearing more and more often.
"Back them up, but make sure we keep the Station safe. Those ships are expendable." Sa'Tak said without blinking an eye.
Powering from it's standing start, the Pendragon was surprisingly fast off the mark and began racing to the wormhole, the ship arced just enough to keep out of weapons range of the station, it's bulk heading for the lead ship of the defensive group, "Broadcast an offer of mercy if they surrender, but do not hesitate to fire."
"Orders captain." The tactical officer asked of the USS Burgess. Larom knew opening fire was gonna be a death sentence especially with the firepower coming from the behemoth but at the same time not opening fire meant certain death as well.
"Attack patter Zulu Zulu Gamma." Larom said using the Sabers as fly's allowing the Burgess to hit the large ship unimpeded hopefully.
Random shots where fired from the Station, though with all ships just out of range of Zetari's weapons. They were more warning shots, as if making sure to keep the fight away from the Station.
"Attacking pattern Vokar Beta Nine, firing resolutions on the Federation starships, full spread phasers, torpedoes launch alternate tubes, target the larger ship, the Sabres will break once it's destroyed." Vokar called out as the Pendragon began to rock under weapons fire, the bright orange lances of the ship's phasers striking out and hammering on the shields of the defending ships.
The Burgess shook violently from several phaser hits, "shields at 86%, starboard shields taking most of the damage." The tactical officer said as he did a quick scan, "seems they're concentrating fire on us and leaving the Sabers alone."
Larom looked worried, "send of the Sabers to the aft of the enemy we and the other Saber will concentrate fire on the aft and fore of the enemy." The tactical officer sent the orders as two Sabers peeled off to the right and did a large loop back heading for the aft of the Pendragon while the third Saber made another pass firing a spread of torpedoes. Leaving the Burgess room for a torpedo salvo along with a several lances of their phasers.
"They're coming around us." the Tactical officer called out from behind Vokar, who had a slight smile on his face at the sight of the battle unfolding, "Full stop, Z axis Minus Ten thousand metres," the Vulcan called out as the ships began their attack runs, "Full spread dorsal arrays, boost power from cores three and four."
Without much warning, the mighty Excalibur-Refit class ship came to a halt and dropped below the attack runs of the Sabre class ships, the phasers running along the dorsal section lighting up and punishing the shields of the smaller craft until they flared and failed.
The three Sabers hit their target over shot as the large vessel suddenly stopped. And with that came a unnerving amount of fire upon all three ships. Causing two of the three to loose their aft shields.
"Shields down on two out of three ships sir," came the report that Vokar had been waiting to hear, the smile broadened on his lips and he glanced over his shoulder, "Good shooting," he commented before turning back to the viewscreen.
Loram was sweating now, "continue to fire at will!" He shouted in a panic all of his training seemed to just dripped out of his brain. As he watched helplessly as the ship that was outnumbered just beating the shit out of his little flotilla.
Leaning back in the command chair, Vokar allowed himself another smile, the scars on his face shifting awkwardly, he unstrapped himself and opened the console in the arm, "Set a course for the wormhole, aft torpedos load and fire when you have a target."
The torpedoes hit their target with ease disabling the Burgess and the other Saber class ship. "Sir we're dead in the water." The tactical officer said realizing they couldn't even do the UFP standard move of ramming when the battle was lost. "How close are they?"
"Close enough for Icarus Flew to Close to the Sun plan." The tactical officer said as he grimaced knowing what that plan consisted of. Loram just nodded as the plan started. All five ships were connected through one self-destruct if they weren't able to ram the attack Starfleet ship.
Ten seconds later five large explosions happened carrying a large shockwave in all directions. Knowing that it was gonna do large damage to the station as well. But their objective was to destroy all pro-Starfleet assets.
"Shockwave incoming, all of the ships detonated simultaneously sir!" one of the officers shouted out from the back of the bridge, "They must be linked to try and destroy any ship capable of overpowering them, impact in thirteen seconds!"
"Emergency power to shields and structural integrity," Vokar called out as he hammered his fist on the console on the arm of his chair, "All hands, brace for impact, brace!"
When the shockwave hit the Pendragon, it sent the huge ship careening towards the wormhole at a much faster speed, it bucked and shook and conduits burst on a few decks as the engineers struggled to maintain the integrity of the ship, the helm officer managed to level off the flight and they rode out the tail end of the wave with a minimum of damage.
"Status report?" Vokar asked as he wiped away a trickle of sweat that was beading down his forehead.
"We're still good to make the trip through the wormhole sir, no major damage reported, injury reports still coming in, no fatalities." the Operations officer called out, a smile on his face as he sat back in his chair.
"Helm, good flying, resume course." the Vulcan responded as he adjusted his eye-patch and flattened out his hair, "Onwards, to Vulcan!"
Back on the Station the alarms where going off already as the Station had gone into red alert the moment the first shots had been fired. Already Sa'Tak had been on the crew to make sure everything stayed as it should be. Shields where up, as he focused on keeping everything at bay.
He had not foreseen anyone trying to get though the to the warmhole. Instead he'd taken it as people would be coming though it to the station. That was the reason the ships had been placed the ships there. Ships that had humans as Captains, another mistake upon his part. He should have placed Vulcans like himself into them. A lesson that was made clear when they self destructed a bit to close to the Station. As the shockwaves of the ships hit the Station it rocked hard. Lights flickered throughout the Station.
"Shields are down." "Hull breach on level 56." "Power failures on decks 45 and downwards." "Medical is reporting multiple casualities and a few fatalities." Came a few of the incoming reports to Sa'Tak.
"Captain, we have a big problem. The station's position-keeping engines are knocked offline. We are drifting."
