Mission: Non-Plot Log
It was a good thing her father and best friends hit if off so well as she hadn't been the most social person on the way back to Richard's place. Leaving them to play catch up all the way there. They'd taken the old fashion way back, after all with the two dogs and the added luggage it was easier this way.
With them off getting settled in, she'd taken a little longer to make it into the mansion. With everything going on, mixed with everything on her mind. She was taking the extra few minutes to herself, something that her dogs were helping her with, although neither one of them were moving to far from her. That was till Gizmo took off towards the house, bringing her gaze to follow and a soft smile to catch her.
Having basically organised the entire wedding in her absence, Patrick was glad that Kassi was here. There were a few final details that he'd held back, so that she could help make those decisions. He came out of the house, and spotted her with the dogs. Gizmo clearly recognised Patrick, as well they both should, after the time they'd spent together on Zetari. "Hey boy!" Patrick smiled, and gave Gizmo pats.
Slowly, she made her way over to him, her smile getting a little bigger the closer she got. "I think they missed you." Kassi replied as she watched Ryker move towards him now with a wag of his tail.
Patrick crouched down and gave Ryker head-rubs as he patted Gizmo with the other. "I can tell." Patrick smiled. "They weren't the only ones who missed having you around, you know."
Reaching out to pet Ryker, she let her fingers lace into his as she looked at him. "Yes well... they arn't the only one that missed you too." She said with a little tug of him upwards to kiss him softly. "You know... I still can't believe you are giving me a second chance."
"Everyone deserves a second chance." Patrick replied. "You made a decision, that at the time, you thought was right. It wasn't, but I didn't help much either. Lets learn from it, and have ourselves a great life together." He ruffled Ryker's head a bit more. "Besides, I don't think these guys will let us break up again."
"No, I don't think they will either." She said with a chuckle as she gazed at him before going serious. "You know... if it wasn't for you, I might have given into my mothers wishes and not have come back this time..." Her gaze drifted to the Mansion before looking back to him. She knew she needed to open up more to him and tell him what she'd learned, but she also wasn't sure she was ready to think more about that right now.
"Your mother doesn't approve of us?" Patrick asked, concerned.
Kassi shrugged a little bit. "You're a Marine... that and after everything that happened she's been on this kick that I should resign and stay close to home." Fingers stayed curled within his hand as she shifted some to relax and look around some again. "Father came though, he understands."
"Have you thought any about what's next for us?" He asked, looking into her eyes. "I mean, we're both going to the same region of space - but we'll both be doing completely different things. I'm a marine officer now, I'll have... I actually have no idea what marine officers do... sip tea in an office somewhere getting sergeants to do all the work, if Richard's a rolemodel for what officers are like."
"I have no clue, figured we would take it one day at a time. After all, we have our whole lives ahead of us now." She leaned slightly against him. "Now you know how I feel each time they throw me into something knew.... You will be fine, just poke Colonel Towers around and I'm sure the two of you can annoy Richard enough that he will keep you two busy."
Patrick smirked. "And you, you'll be chasing the stars with Admiral Malone, going god knows where."
"Yeah, and wishing I was with you, were I can see you more often." She frowned a little. "It's a good thing love is so strong... Starfleet doesn't make things easy for people in love."
"Its a military organisation at the end of the day." Patrick sighed. "We do what's in their best interest, not the other way around. At the very least, I know I'll be posted to Xonnel with Richard, so I know where I'll be at least."
"And you know you'll always have me contacting you as often as I can. And having you, I'll make sure to keep myself safe and out of trouble." Kassi said with a little blush. "So you won't worry to much."
"You better." He smiled. "Else you'll have to explain it to these guys here."
"You know... I haven't told Malone about these guys, they may have to stay with you... or at least one of them." For some reason she wasn't so sure Malone would be thrilled to have two dogs running around his ship.
"I'm sure I'll get a sizable billet, being a Colonel. I'll be able to look after these guys." Patrick replied.
"Good" Kassi looked back to the house. "How is Richard and the Admiral getting along?" She asked curiously. "And how are the plans coming? I didn't mean to leave you with most the planning."
"Well, they haven't killed each other yet." Harper replied, coolly. "Although I'm sure if given half a chance, Richard probably will kill him. As for the plans, I have a few things left that I chose to wait until you came before finalizing. The flowers, the cake, the rings, the dress, the theme, so on and so forth in that fashion."
"Dress and flowers are taken care of. I have your ring. Already picked out a cake and contacted a bakery around here to deliver it.... I just hope you like it. As for theme.. well, I went for red and green colors.... for both of us." She peeked to him shyly. "What else was there?"
"You do realize my dress uniform is a dark blue jacket, with blue pants with a red stripe down the leg, shiny black shoes, lots of brass buttons and medals and rank. Oh, and a stupid white hat." Patrick smirked. "Richard'll be in his own monkey suit too."
"Alright... so red and blue? I just figured you Marines like the greens." She turned and kissed him softly on his cheek. "I kind of like you all in your suits."
"You're biased." He retorted. "Marine dress uniform is blue, although every other uniform variant is green. Odd that."
"Yes, maybe I am, but I can't help that. Maybe I'm just a sucker for green." She teased him a little. "I am looking forwards to seeing you in blue for a change."
"Should be interesting to see you in white - for a change." He teased her back, and then kissed her. "Come on you, we have work to do."
There was a light blush as she returned that kiss. "Alright, work to do... and talking to do later." One hand holding the cane, her other laced within his grasp as she walked along with him and the dogs now.
