Joint Log | Gen. Sharpe & Col. Towers | "Moving Out"

Mission: Insurrection [Fleet Plot]

After his discussion with Malone, Sharpe sent instructions to the Vesuvius to inform Towers to bring his team to the USS Hawk. He also sent instructions for Fischer to dispatch over a few personnel to actually manage the starship - since Malone had distributed the Hawk's crew throughout the fleet on temporary assignments to fill roster holes. Sharpe had a ship, but no crew. It was a blessing in a way, as it limited the number of people involved, and a Defiant could be run with as little as five people - but Sharpe wanted *trained* people to run the systems.

Fischer obliged, sending over a few people. They were difficult to pick as he couldn't give his best people to Sharpe, yet giving him green Cadets would do him no good either. He also had to send people that he trusted for this mission. Eventually a half dozen bridge officers joined Towers and his team as they beamed over to the Hawk. The marines had a lot of gear with them too.

Sharpe met Towers in the transporter room, having changed out of his marine duty uniform into nondescript casual clothes. "Welcome to the Hawk, Colonel."

"When did we acquire this toy?" Towers asked, having never seen the ship before. The other marines shuffled past them into the corridor, carrying their gear.

"Present from Malone." Sharpe said. "I suspect it's so he can keep track of us, but I'm not going to look a gift-horse in the mouth. It has more punch than a runabout, and it can fire whilst cloaked - apparently."

"Hopefully we don't have to test it, though I know better. Do you have a plan here, General?" Towers asked.

"Well, my gut instinct says we head to Earth - shake some bushes and see what falls out." He said. "But I suspect you might have some objections?"

Towers shrugged. "Only that I hope you aren't trivializing the difficulty of getting onto Earth. Cloaked ship or not, it won't be easy to get down there."

"It really does depend if they've fixed the Tachyon Detection Grid that was disabled during the Cardassian strike. If they have, cloaked or not, we're going to ping like a light in a dark room." Sharpe said. "Do you have a suggestion?"

"Not yet. I suppose we have to cross that bridge when we come to it." Towers admitted.

"I'm hoping we can link up with Tyris when we get there." Sharpe said. "His back-channels would be very helpful."

"I've heard nothing from him since we left Earth. He may not even be alive." Towers pointed out.

"We have to hope." Sharpe sighed. "In any case, lose the uniforms."

"We will." Towers assured him.

"Do we have anything to go on? Any intel?" He continued.

"Nothing." Richard sighed. "Do we have any intel sources we can tap?"

"None to my knowledge. Just Tyris. Ascari is still in prison last I heard, and nobody's seen or heard from Refelian since Highclere." Towers said.

"So, we're going in blind." Sharpe said. "Well, at least we're not reliant on Starfleet Intelligence information."

"I should hope not, since I'm pretty sure they're hunting for us pretty actively."

"You and I are going to have to keep a low profile. I suspect we're public enemies on wanted posters." Richard chuckled.

"I have no doubt we're being portrayed to young recruits as demonic monsters come to rape and pillage." Towers agreed with a wry smile.

"You know, its been such a long time since I've raped or pillaged..." He sighed, longingly. Then chuckled. "Alright, go get changed, and we'll head out."

"Yes, General." Towers threw a salute and headed off after his team.

Richard sighed and made his way out of the transporter room. "I miss not being a General."
