Mission: Insurrection [Fleet Plot]

Kassi watched the area became more active, the timer that counted down the minutes. Her heart thumping hard as her own emotions and nerves built and those dark demons started to fight against her. The release of the fighters brought hands to grip tighter to the railing she'd been near. Like it or not, this was happening and there was nothing she could do to stop it. Lives would be lost, this was war.

Stepping over to an empty console, she gave a slight nod to Fisher. This was his ship, his command. She had to trust him and the rest of her fleet to help her get this Station back.

"Release the ships, their main job is to take out the others. We will be focusing on taking out the lead ship." Sa'Tak announced on main Ops as they hit the five minute mark. Those that were fully faithful to the UFP knew what this all would entail.

"Do it" The Vulcan announced to the Tactical officer.

"Aye Captain" Replied the Lieutenant as he readied the weapons and sent the first one firing towards the Vesuvius.

"The station has opened fire on us." Fischer's tactical officer called.

"Have fighters target incoming projectiles as able. Ninety degree rotation to port, fire all starboard weapons as we pass." Fischer ordered.

Nathan was in his office when the klaxxons went off and he sighed, setting down his PADD. "Looks like that's our cue..." Hunter headed out to the bridge quickly, the officers there already preparing for departure, and he nodded to Clarkson. "Get ready for our strike team to return, they should have finished securing arms." The pilots were somewhere else on the station securing fighters and would join the fight that way but the Marines in Recon would have to get back to the ship or get left and retrieved later. The latter option would mean far more casualties. "We're leaving in five." Hunter then turned towards the Security/Tactical station. "Do not power up weapons until we have cleared the shipyard, we have to look devoted and all that until we get far enough away from the station to open fire."

=*= Starbase Zetari =*=

The starbase had a formidable arsenal of weapons designed at station defense. That being said, they were hardly designed for sustained combat operations. The several hundred torpedo launchers could put out a massive spray of quantum torpedoes, that would level the playing field to atoms, and the phaser arrays could swathe through anything out there. The idea was, that you'd need a fleet of high-end cruisers to really take Zetari out - but her real defense was her support ships.

The weapons from the starbase lanced out and began striking the task-force ships. The lighter cruisers would be far more vulnerable to the incoming fire than the heavier cruisers, so they were pulled back to provide anti-fighter cover.

The second Clarkson announced that Recon had returned Nathan gave the order and as she separated from the dock and moved slowly away Nathan clenched his jaw, watching the main viewscreen nervously. It was at this critical time that Medusa was at her most vulnerable, he could only hope that Sa'Tak did not yet suspect anything though that was unlikely if the Vulcan happened to notice more fighters were launching than should have been. "Prepare to detonate charges." Nathan called out to the Security officer manning Tactical, part of Recon's mission aside from securing weapons had also been to secure Medusa's ability to exit Shipyard one way or the other. Were a tractor beam to be locked on it wouldn't remain so for long.

"Captain, Medusa isn't forming up in formation with the other support ships." The tactical officer replied.

"Let them know they better be getting into formation or they will be considered a traitor like the others and taken out.." Sa'Tak said without bothering to look at the Tactical officer. The UFP training had been flawed in the fact that the Vulcan had allowed himself to possibly be tricked by the Captain. The time crunch they were under had made testing the Medusa's loyalty hard to do. A mistake that seemed to be showing up now.

Medusa continued to drag behind the force rushing out to meet the opposition. As the ship parted the Yard doors Nathan bit his bottom lip, waiting too long would inevitably tip their hand one way or the other. "The jig is up. Full power to all systems. Prepare to fire."
